Independence Day and other stuffs
So today is Idependence day in america, and It frustrates me that I missed out on celebrating my favourite american holiday this year (tied with thanksgiving) – for the first time in 4years.
I still remember my first 4th of july celebrations. We drove to Medford, Wi (which was near us), and sat by the river amongst a tonne of families. Patrick, myself and John. It was fun. I felt like a little kid before, especially during the pyrotechnics display when they set of what I call the “sonic boom” fireworks – you could feel that thing vibrate through your body it was great!
Now thats not the only reason I liked the holiday of course (though it was kinda a plus seeing as americans don’t have guy fawkes night (november), so it filled the once a year fireworks quota for me. But I liked what the holiday stood for, the reason behind it. No matter what people say, America is still one of the places I’ll call home, I’m just a bit sad that it took moving to the other side of the world to realise how much that country means to me.
Another realisation I came to today, hate him or like him – this is the LAST year that independence day will be celebrated with GWB at the helm of the american ship! HUZZAH I’m not a bush support, and this fact gives me great happiness to know his reign is almost at an end.
In other news, Still job hunting (I know, shock horror etc). Still reading a lot (again with the shock huh?), and the weather is still really nice (a bit cold at nights, but i’m greatful for that).
